STEPS TO REDUCE YOUR RISKS

  • Do not overfill your garbage bin and keep lids securely shut. Consider the use of a bungee cord to keep the lid tight or put a weight on the lid.

  • Remember to put your bins out for trash collection on your scheduled pickup day.

  • Consider keeping bins behind a fence or in your garage if you have extra space.

  • Double bag trash that might be particularly pungent.

  • Periodically rinse out and clean your garbage bins.

  • Treat your bins and the surrounding area with repellents specifically designed for such critters.

  • Keep yards clean and well trimmed to limit habitats for the critters and do not leave food out.
