Someone posing as a Pinellas County Sheriff's Officer calls and claims you or someone you may know has outstanding citations for failure to appear in court. The caller uses real Deputy names and uses a real Captain's name. The phone number on the caller ID is spoofing the PCSO non-emergency number. They ask for payment to satisfy the citation(s). They sound very convincing. If you encounter such a call, hang up and call the published number for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office to confirm. NEVER make payment based on a phone call conversation that you did not initiate. BE ALERT!
